Raised in the Baton Rouge area and now proud to call Central home, Josh Roy has built a career defined by commitment to his clients, his community, and the pursuit of excellence in the law. He began his legal journey with The Maughan Law Firm as a law clerk during law school and continued with the firm after graduation, developing a practice grounded in both advocacy and trusted counsel.
Josh represents clients across a wide range of legal matters, including personal injury, probate and succession law, civil property disputes, real estate transactions, business formation and litigation, wills and trusts, contract disputes, and general civil litigation. He has successfully litigated cases in courts throughout Louisiana, presented oral argument before state appellate courts, and appeared before the Louisiana Supreme Court, securing numerous favorable outcomes. His proven results and courtroom performance have earned him membership in the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a distinction reserved for attorneys who achieve significant recoveries for their clients.
A top-performing scholar, Josh earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Southern University Law Center, graduating first in his class. While there, he served as a senior editor of the Southern University Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University. He is an active member of both the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association.
Beyond his legal practice, Josh is deeply engaged in public service and community leadership. He has served as a councilman for the City of Central since 2019 and currently serves on the Board of Directors of NephCure Kidney International. His prior service includes leadership roles with Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge and the Kiwanis Club. He is also active in his church, where he has held multiple leadership positions.
Josh and his wife, Chelsey, live in the City of Central with their four sons. When he’s not practicing law or serving his community, you’ll likely find him coaching his sons’ sports teams, enjoying the outdoors with his family, or cheering on LSU. An Eagle Scout and lifelong leader, Josh brings the same discipline, integrity, and dedication to every aspect of his life.
